Little Tykes Learning Center Educators

Your children will always be cared for by an attentive staff of experienced childcare professionals while they’re in the care of Little Tykes Learning Center.

Our staff includes:

Darla Dunston, Co-Owner/Operator

My name is Darla Dunston. I have always loved children, from holding the neighbor’s new babies to babysitting to considering becoming a pediatric nurse. After a year and a half at UNB nursing, it was clear to me that working with sick children was too hard for me to handle. I made the decision to switch facilities and finish my schooling with a Bachelors of Education.

I taught for District 2 for eight years (mostly high school) and then decided to open a daycare facility where I could spend more time with younger age groups. This was the best decision I could have ever made. I am now co-owner and operator of Little Tykes Learning Center with a capacity of 40 children. I currently spend my mornings covering the administrative aspects and my afternoons teaching the Imagination Station (one of our after school programs) with Amanda.

Many people over the years have asked me why don’t I have children. I tell them I do. I have 40 children to love and teach; they just all go to another home at the end of the day. While in my care, they are treated like my very own.

Kimberley Lutes, Co-Owner/Operator

My name is Kim Lutes and some of the children at Little Tykes Learning Center call me “Kimmy." I am a co-owner and operator of Little Tykes Learning Center and the mother of two adult children. I was a stay-at-home mother until my son was 3-years-old and then I returned to work and had my daughter six years later.

In 1994 I decided to leave my current job to open our first daycare where my daughter attended the after school program (Imagination Station). I’ve worked with all age groups over the past 18 years. Nowadays, I am the teacher of Tyke’s Tots (our program for 2-and 3-year-olds).

I love coming to work each day and seeing the children grow. This is my home away from home!

Theresa Allain

I am Theresa Allain and I teach the Little Learners (our program for 3-and 4-year-olds). I started working with young children 30 years ago, beginning with the Moncton Boys and Girls Club. During the five years I worked there, I received my ECE (Early Childhood Education) from the New Brunswick Community College.

I then got married and left to start my own at-home daycare which was a joy and pleasure. I took some time off to raise my wonderful twin boys for 14 years. I decided to get back into childcare and it was the best thing I ever did. My boys are 17 now, and I look forward to one day taking care of their children and becoming a grandmother.

Children are my passion and joy. I truly start each day with a smile, knowing I get to spend my day with the children and staff at Little Tykes Learning Center. I have been working here for 6 years now and look forward to many more.
